A family business through and through
STIHL has been a family-owned company since its founding. The company shares of STIHL Holding AG & Co. KG are divided between the four shareholders Hans Peter Stihl, Gerhild Schetter (née Stihl), Dr. Rüdiger Stihl and Eva Mayr-Stihl. Since 2002, the company has been run by a non-family Board of Management. Michael Traub is the Chairman of the current five-member Board of Management of STIHL AG. With Dr. Nikolas STIHL as Chairman, as well as a number of other family members as committee members, the STIHL family is represented on the Advisory Board of STIHL Holding AG & Co. KG and on the Supervisory Board of STIHL AG. In these roles, they make strategic decisions for the company.
